1998 bandit ... was truning over fine (wouldn't start due to gas problems) and then just crapped out on me.
I hit the button and get nothing... lights and pannel all look good when I turn the key on, but I get nothing (not even a click)
when I hit the start button

Where do I start, and if you have pics of parts I should look at that would be great .. I dont have a owners manual

Hi John G, start with the battery make sure it is charged and in good condition, then remove all multi plugs and clean them with an electrical cleaning spray even the ones under the head lamp, having done that and there is still no joy get a meter and check you have power to the coils and the starter switch with the ignition on and at the solinoid, the solinoid should click whan the starter switch is pressed also put a meter on the out going side of the soinoid to check there is power to the satrter if not it is either the solinoid or the starter itself.
Hope this helps Keith.

1998 1200 bandit won't start Empty starting problems

Hi, I would be tempted to check cut out switches, like the side stand switch for example..even with a flat battery you would get some action from pressing the starter button....also check clutch safety switch if it has one...easy way to bypass the safety switches is to put the wires from them together, then try starting again....
bike shouldn't blow a fuse unless there is something wrong in the loom somewhere, a short maybe, but that would have been evident prior to non starting...just a suggestion. Paul
