no brake light

I was just given a ratted out 2001 bandit 1200, and aside having a crap street fighter headlight that needs to go, I cant get the brake light to work. I have a running light, swapped out new a new bulb , and I swapped out the both front and rear switches to no avail. I unplug the switch at the lever and touch them togather and nothing. fuses are good and the bike runs strong....what am I missing?

had the same type of issue with my 1999 1200 but was am indicator problem , found that the wires had been rubbing on the frame and over time had rubbed threw and were shorting on the frame , my advice and what i did . take the time and go threw all the wiring and replace where needed
