Help! I am about to buy a Bandit!

Ill post the question first then give you some history on me.

I am going to look at and possibly buy a 1996 Bandit S for $800. Why so cheap? it has been dropped. He hit a pothole at 45mph. There are cosmetic issues of course. The brake pedal is broken. But here is the kicker, the signal generator cover is cracked. It is leaking oil. My question is Should there be oil behind there? Is the leaking oil a sign of more damage to the crank case or oil pan? Please help.

This will effect my decision to buy or pass.

I am a good mechanic. I used to ride dirt bikes and just got my first street bike 6 months ago a 1978 Kawasaki KZ650 then i got another one a parts doner. I brought it back from the dead. I want something that handles better and is more reliable.

I need to make a decision today.

I think there's oil behind there, but what you need to find out is was it running for very long on its side. They are pretty bullit proof but it would be good to check.
