Afternoon all,
Any idea of standard 1200 bandit carb clean and balance from "normal" garage? Have just put mine in for a carb clean and while i have an idea in mind i don't want a nastier shock than expected...
Cheers

price check on carbs
for my mikuni bst3636ss on 1996 bandit s in rhone alps france I got between 400 and 800 euros as estimates because they cannot tell what it needs. one mechanic told me to trash the bike if the carbs were no good. (he prefers I buy a new one fom him obviously)
f--- that noise!
I rebuilt mine after studying the shop manual and watching a ton of youtube videos. if I had all the parts at the same time and a single chunk of time with unlimited coffee it would have taken about 8 hours, plus overnight soak. I'm not a professional mechanic so I had to be REALLY careful. It cost me about 100 euros in parts and supplies (4 gasket kits, 3 new jets, solvents). $70 euros for carb balancer, the only special tool required, and patience patience patience.
mounting and balancing them this weekend.

after i got my bike back it had a misfire and the Suzuki Dealer couldn't find it , so its the age old saying "if you want something done right then do it yourself"

carb cleaning
there is a listing on ebay for carb cleaning, but they are very expensive, ultrasonic carb cleaning, which is very good...I had my whole bank of four carbs cleaned in Barneys bike shop in Kent last year, cost £45 which is very reasonable...
a good bike shop should be able to balance a set of carbs within half an hour...Crescents in Bournemouth, Dorset, charged me £30 + vat to do mine, which was cheaper than buying a set of vacuum gauges and doing it myself..
