New to the site, not Suzukis

Post  Mightyzod on Sat Apr 19, 2014 1:00 pm

Greetings. I have been a Suzuki fan all of my riding life, so I figured this would be the place to get some information. My first Bandit was a 1999 1200s. I am currently riding a 2001 Bandit 1200. My wife has a 2001 Bandit 1200s. We share time on a 2008 Honda (I know) VT1800T, but she will not get on my 1974 Suzuki GT750. I like to do as much of my own maintenance as possible, and I would like to get some thoughts on aftermarket rear brake pads. I recently replaced pads all around on my Bandit, but the rear pads made such a squealing noise that I put the stock pads back on. They were EBC brand. I read a few comments from others and this seemed to be a common problem. I need to replace the rear pads on my wife's Bandit, and I would like to hear what other riders buy for this.

Thanks for your help. I hope to learn much from all of you.

rear brake pads

I replaced the brake pads on my '09 Bandit with EBC, same issue with squeaking. I reattached the shims and put some brake grease on the metal to metal contact areas. big reduction. next time I will use OE or Ferodo. On my '82 GS I used Ferodo and had no issues.

Ferado it is

Thanks for the response. I have looked at Ferado, but went with EBCs because, well, that is what I have always used. Change is good, or so I have heard.
I will pick up a set and post how it goes.

Thanks again.
